According to the Good Returns website, the price of gold increased by Rs 440 in early trade on Saturday, with 10 grams of the yellow metal (24-carat) dealing for Rs 60,110. One kilo grams of the priceless metal, silver, is still being sold for Rs 73,100.
Ten grams of 22-carat gold now cost Rs 55,100, an increase of Rs 400.
At Rs 60,110, the price of ten grams of 24-carat gold in Mumbai is comparable to that of gold in Hyderabad and Kolkata.
In Delhi, Bengaluru, and Chennai, ten grams of 24-carat gold are priced at Rs. 60,260, Rs. 60,160, and Rs. 60,460, respectively.
US gold prices fluctuated on Friday as traders weighed the Federal Reserve’s hawkish view on interest rates against the dollar’s general decline this week.
By 12 p.m. EDT (1800 GMT), spot gold was up 0.1% to $1,958.83 per ounce, heading towards a 0.1% weekly decline. US gold futures almost exactly held their value at $1,971.20.
Silver gained 1 per cent to $24.10 per ounce, while platinum fell 0.3 per cent to $982.62, both down for the week. The price of 1 kg of silver in Chennai, and Hyderabad is Rs 78,500.
In Delhi and Mumbai, 1 kilogram of silver costs Rs 73,100.
