The NSE Nifty 50 and the BSE Sensex are both closed today, June 28, in observance of Bakri Eid. On Wednesday, new all-time highs were set by the Nifty 50 (19,011.25), Sensex (64050.44), Bank Nifty (44,508.40), and Nifty Financial Services (19,954.90).

Today is a stock market holiday: On June 29th, in observance of Bakri Eid, both the BSE and the National Stock Exchange of India (NSE) will be closed. Stock exchanges moved the Bakri Eid holiday from Wednesday to Thursday in accordance with the notice made by the Maharashtra general administration department regarding the change in holiday. Originally, markets were planned to close on Wednesday. The weekly and monthly derivative contract expirations were pushed to Wednesday due to the holiday being moved to Thursday. Metal and bullion markets, as well as wholesale commodity markets, are all closed today. The foreign exchange and futures markets for commodities won’t be open for trading.

In the meantime, the benchmark indices NSE Nifty 50 and BSE Sensex finished Wednesday’s F&O expiry session substantially in the green, with new all-time highs being reached by the Nifty 50 (19,011.25), Sensex (64050.44), Bank Nifty (44,508.40), and Nifty Financial Services (19,954.90). The BSE Sensex increased 499.39 points or 0.79% to 63,915.42 and the NSE Nifty 50 increased 154.70 points or 0.82% to 18,972.10. In the sectoral indices, the Bank Nifty jumped 206.30 points or 0.47% to 44,327.80; the Nifty Auto, Fin Nifty, Nifty Metal, and Nifty Pharma all saw gains. Adani Enterprises, Adani Ports, JSW Steel, Bajaj Auto, and Sun Pharma were the top gainers on the Nifty 50, while HDFC Life, Tech Mahindra, Mahindra & Mahindra, Apollo Hospitals, and Hero Motocorp were the worst performers.
